Our story
We built Blue Pearl around the nut everyone else throws away.
Most processors buy only the large, uniform kernels that meet export size grades — leaving smallholder farmers to offload everything else at distressed prices, or not at all. Blue Pearl sits at the centre of the chain instead: we buy every size, pay a fair and transparent price, turn premium kernel into Kaju Treats and B2B private-label product, and send the shells that would otherwise be burned or dumped through our own pyrolysis kiln to become biochar — sold back into the same farming communities as an organic soil input.
What we do
One value chain, three connected parts
Direct from 5,000 smallholder farmers
We source nut-in-shell macadamia from smallholder farmers and five farmer cooperatives in Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Embu counties. We buy every nut 16mm and above — including sizes other processors reject — at fair, transparent prices, with digital traceability replacing broker-dependent sales.

More of macadamia's value stays in Kenya
We process macadamia locally into kernels and roasted nuts for B2B buyers, private-label customers and our own brand, Kaju Treats. Our value-added products are KEBS-certified.

Shells to soil
Around 75% of every nut-in-shell becomes by-product after processing: about 70% shell and 5% Grade B kernels. Shells become biomass fuel today and biochar next — a substitute for synthetic lime on acidic soils, starting with coffee farmers who also grow macadamia. Grade B kernels go into animal feed and cosmetic oil.

To deliver fair, reliable income to smallholder macadamia farmers and build sustainable value — from farm to export, shells to soil — through aggregation, value addition and circular innovation.
Transforming communities through rural income, job creation and value addition.
